March 22 – Untied Nations World Water Day
March 22 is World Water Day, held since 1993, to raise awareness of the importance of access to fresh water.
This year’s motto is “Water and Climate Change”.
The increasing demand for fresh water depletes natural resources; climate-smart agricultural techniques and
the safe reuse of waste water are two of the topics addressed.
The UN appeals to everyone to make sensible use of water, our most precious resource.
Goal 6 of the 17 UN goals for sustainable development to be reached by 2030 is access to fresh water and
hygienic sanitation for everyone.
